Rough Ryder’s “Coal Miner” Work Knife is a traditional pocket knife black jigged bone handles. The handles also features a Rough Rider shield, and brass pins and liners.
The “Coal Miner” Work Knife has a single polished 440A stainless steel clip point blade. The blade also has a “Coal Miner” text etching. The blades each open with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. This knife has no bolsters, but still has the nickel silver shield and brass pins that contrast nicely with the black handles. The handles of this knife are made with bone, which is a natural material and prone to cracking. Therefore, some knives may have cracks near the pins or bolster.
This knife is a clip point linerlock knife. The clip point blade has many uses, both everyday household tasks and more rigorous work duties. The ability of this knife to lock makes it safer for more demanding or precise tasks. The linerlock holds the knife open with a tab inside the handle, and is released by pushing the liner back into place out of the blade’s way.
The “Coal Miner” Work Knife is a perfect knife for a collector, or for use as an everyday carry. With its black jigged bone handle and contrasting shield and pins, this knife is a beautiful piece. Still, it makes for a strong and sturdy knife at a great price.
