Rough Ryder’s “Classic Carbon” Trapper is a traditional pocket knife with yellow composition handles. The handles also feature nickel silver pins, bolsters, a special Classic Carbon shield, and brass liners.
The “Classic Carbon” Trapper has two mirror polished T10 carbon steel blades. The carbon steel used in these knives is easy to sharpen, but prone to rust. It is best to keep the blades well maintained, clean, and oiled. The master blade is a clip point and the knife also features a spey blade. The bolsters have a pinched bolster shape, giving them a slight indent on each end of the knife. They also feature a slant-R embossed design. The blade opens with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. The blade uses the half stops and slip joints found in traditional pocketknives.
This knife is a traditional style trapper pocket knife. Trapper knives are a style of jack knives, and are distinct for having two blades of equal length. They have a clip point master blade that is generally used for detailed cutting work. The spey blade is an all purpose utility blade, and its blunter point makes it perfect for skinning.
The “Classic Carbon” Trapper is a perfect knife for a collector, or for use as an everyday carry. The yellow composition handles combined with the pins and shield give this knife a timeless appearance. With more than ten patterns in this series, it doesn’t get much more traditional than this.
