Rough Ryder’s “Bolster Stripes” Trapper is a beautiful pocket knife with peach seed jigged bone handles. The dark brown of the bone of the handle give the knife a warm color that contrasts with the nickel silver bolsters, pins, and Rough Ryder shield.
The “Bolster Stripes” Trapper has two mirror polished 440A stainless steel clip point blades. The master blade is clip point, with a secondary spey. The master blade has a “Rough Ryder” etching. The bolsters have a ridged striped design, which gives the knife a more elegant appearance. Combined with the bone handles and the nickel silver shield, this knife is a classic example of a traditional pocket knife. The blades open with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. The blade uses the half stops and slip joints found in traditional pocketknives.
This knife is a traditional style trapper pocket knife. Trapper knives are a style of jack knives, and are distinct for having two blades of equal length. They have a clip point master blade that is generally used for detailed cutting work. The spey blade is an all purpose utility blade, and its blunter point makes it perfect for skinning.
The “Bolster Stripes” Trapper is a perfect knife for a collector, or for use as an everyday carry. The deep brown bone handle and nickel silver fittings give the knife an elegant and refined look. Despite its good looks, this knife is still reliable and durable enough for everyday carry and use.
